President February 2001 -- By Jill Gallagher Hello membership and welcome to another informative Pygora Breeders Association Newsletter. Wow, I can’t believe that we are almost into spring and the 2001 pygoras are about to hit the ground! Can’t wait to see them. I would like to tell you of some of the things your board and committee chairs and officers have been working on. First off, I would like to thank Janet Hanus for volunteering to put together the 2001 membership book and breeders book. It is going to be great and informative with a number of forms and other information all in one book. We are shooting for a mailing date of March 1st. Next the board will be reworking the Judges Training Packet and test. It has been awhile since it was updated. So if you are thinking about getting the packet, please wait a bit so you can get the updated one. Jackie Liner, our Show Secretary, has been updating forms and is always on the look out for better ways of keeping the show records, thanks Jackie! Renee Elting, our 4-H committee chair, is getting a list together of as many 4-H clubs around the United States that are using Pygoras as their project animal. This is great, so we can refer new members to them and they can also help each other out with their information and share the ways they are infiltrating the fairs with Pygora shows throughout out the country. She is also working on a 4-H approved project book. Good going Renee! Our Web master, Lisa Roskopf, has been very busy making and fine tuning the PBA web site to make it as informative as ever. Please contact her if you have any ideas for the site. We hope to have our forms at the site also soon. Thank you Lisa! Inga Gonzales, PBA’s secretary, has also been busy keeping us up to date on dues and herd names and tattoos. The herd names is getting to be quite a list. Since we now have over 20 years of herd names! And our Treasurer, Fran Bishop, is also been counting each and every penny as it passes through her hands on its way to the PBA bank account. And if you saw the money forms I send her, you would be amazed at the job she does. Great job to the both of you! Well as you can see, I am very proud and pleased to be working with such a great group. But we still have some holes to be filled. We still need an Newsletter Editor or guest editor. If just four people would donate their time, to Putting together just one newsletter each, then that would take care of one year! Think of it. And you wouldn’t be doing it alone, we will be there to help. We are also looking for someone that would like to train for the registrar job. Let me tell you it isn’t a small job, but it is a informative one. It is like getting to peek into the pastures of the memberships pens and seeing all the pretty pygoras, without leaving your desk. We would also love to have a merchandizing person. This is an area that could be placed on the web site to get the items seen by the members and also shown in the Newsletter. I would love to have a mug with pygoras hopping around. So if you think you would like to join the PBA team of players, contact me. I would love to hear from you. Again- Thank you to all those people working to get the Pygora Goat out to the World!! Jill
